Lead Equipment Design Engineer – Custom Equipment Company

We are currently looking for an experienced equipment design engineer to work in our Oakland facility.  The engineer will be an integral member of the team designing and building custom equipment and automation for a variety of industries and applications.  This is a full-time position.

Job Description:

The Lead Equipment Design Engineer will be responsible for designing custom equipment and automation.  This will include solid modeling in SolidWorks, generation of component drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials.  In addition to design, the Equipment Design Engineer will be involved with assembly and debug of custom equipment.

In addition to technical design work, this role will also include leading design projects with multiple resources.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in equipment design (more is preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years experience designing with SolidWorks (more is preferred)
  • Strong SolidWorks skills are required for this position
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical components and systems including linear actuators, pneumatic systems and industrial sensors
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently on several tasks simultaneously
  • Must have good interpersonal skills needed to interact with personnel from a wide range of disciplines and management levels
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic
  • Good computer skills; fluency with Microsoft Office required

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience acting as the mechanical lead on multi-disciplinary equipment design projects.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
